GENERAL MARTIN LUTHER AGWAI
Genral Martin Luther Agwai, CFR, FSS, MSS, DSS is a retired 4-Star Nigerian Army General who served as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure.
He trained at prestigious institutions, including the Nigerian Command and Staff College, British Army Staff College (Camberley), U.S. Army Armor School, and the National Defence University, Washington, USA, where he earned a place in the Hall of Fame.
His notable roles include:
- Nigerian Military Adviser at the Embassy of Nigeria, Harare (1993–1996)
- Directing Staff and Chief Instructor at the Command and Staff College, Jaji
- Deputy Military Adviser at the United Nations Headquarters, New York
- Commander of the UN-African Union Peacekeeping Force in Darfur, leading one of the largest peacekeeping operations with 20,000 troops and 6,000 police
General Agwai is a Visiting Professor at the African Leadership Centre, King’s College, London, and currently serves as Director of the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute, Abeokuta, Nigeria.
