KGALEMA PETRUS MOTLANTHE

Following the resignation of President Thabo Mbeki, Kgalema Motlanthe was sworn in as the third President of South Africa, serving from September 2008 to May 2009.

He later became Deputy President to President Jacob Zuma from 2009 to 2014. He also served as the 8th Deputy President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 2007 to 2012, 14th Secretary-General of the ANC, Member of the National Assembly from 2009 to 2014, and General Secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers from 1992 to 1998.

Since 2021, he has been the Chairperson of the ANC Electoral Committee.
