PRESIDENT MACKY SALL

Macky Sall served as the 4th President of Senegal from 2012 to 2024 and was the Chairperson of the African Union from 2022 to 2023.

Before his presidency, he was the 8th Prime Minister of Senegal (2004–2007) under President Abdoulaye Wade, President of the National Assembly (2007–2008), and Mayor of Fatick.

Internationally, he was praised for his diplomatic efforts, advocating for the cancellation of African debt, strengthening anti-terrorism measures,  and condemning military coups. He also played a key role in resolving conflicts in Senegal’s Casamance Region.
