PROFESSOR PETER OKEBUKOLA

Professor Peter Akinola Okebukola, OFR, is a Professor Emeritus of Science and Computer Education. He earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, with specialized training at MIT and Harvard University, USA.

A Fellow of the International Academy of Education, he has led Quality Assurance Projects for UNESCO, the African Union, the World Bank, and the Association of African Universities. He previously served as Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

A recipient of Nigeria’s National Honour (OFR), he is President of the Nigerian Association for Environment Education and GUNI-Africa, which has trained higher education teachers and researchers since 2004.

He is the first African to win the UNESCO Prize for the Communication of Science (1992) and has earned multiple international gold medals in Science and Computer Education.
